So, here is my story.Īfter speaking to trusted member of the circumcision center staff, I made the appointment for circumcision. I found a urologist in Atlanta who performs adult circumcisions. Regardless, I was convinced it was for me. To my horror, I found many articles about anti-circumcision. Because I was old enough to make my own medical decisions, I searched the internet and read what it was like to be circumcised. Of the 14 players, I was one for two who were not circumcised. The stigma continued when I started college where I played on a club water polo team. The fact that I was not circumcised affected me a lot. I confirmed that in our locker room and in the showers. It was not the language since I am fluent in English, or because I was not an American, but because I was the only kid who was not circumcised on the water polo team. My teammates are my best friends, but I was different in one way.
My teammates nicknamed me wasserball, which in German means water polo. I swam on the high school team, and because I was a good swimmer I also played water polo, which I loved. I was born in Germany and my parents and I moved to the United States when I was 12 years old because my father worked for an international company.
